Paul Nicholls has been
a professional newspaper
photographer for 20 years.
Working primarily for
newspaper titles The Citizen,
Gloucestershire Echo and The Western Daily Press,
Paul's work is easily recognisable for its outstanding
quality and creativity. His photographs literally tell the story.
Paul's work regularly
appears in UK national newspapers,
magazines, on the internet, the television, and around the
world.
Winner of awards,
Paul most recently won a category in the
2004 national 'Everyday' photographic competition, organised
by the Northcliffe Newspaper
Group.
The competition was open to photographers in the UK and
attracted over 1,000 entries. Fifty-one finalists had their
entries exhibited in London. Paul
had three exhibits, one
of which won the community category.
Paul's heartbreaking
picture of soldiers carrying the coffin
of their friend and comrade during a regimental funeral came
runner-up in the 2006 South West EDF Energy Awards'
"Front Page of the Year" category.
In September 2007 Paul's
work featured in 'Professional
Photographer' magazine under the Headline 'so you want
to be a press photographer'. The article can be viewed at
the bottom of the page.
Paul successfully passed
the National Council for the
Training of Journalists Press Photography Proficiency
Test in 1989.
